Welcome to Kalon Acupuncture
My acupuncture journey began after personally helping me with chronic health issues, debilitating physical pain and terrible anxiety. I wanted everyone to experience this powerful ancient medicine and to help to bring it to a wider Western audience. As a self-confessed skincare junkie, when I discovered Cosmetic Acupuncture and its potential for beauty treatments, it was only natural for me to take this direction combining my passions for skincare, acupuncture and natural therapies.
I’M SOPHIE
I’m trained in both AcuRegen Cosmetic Acupuncture with Amanda Shayle and Facial Enhance Acupuncture with Paul Adkins and am delighted to bring their expertise to my clinic. My desire is to promote a “new”, non toxic approach to beauty and healthy ageing without invasive or chemical procedures whilst also being relaxing for the mind, body and soul and working holistically.
Skin care has always been one of my favourite forms of self care. The skin is the largest organ in the body and serves as our boundary to the external world, our protector. It’s also the interface through which we experience the world around us. I’m fascinated by the anatomy of the face, the only place in the body where we find mimetic muscles - originating from the fascia or the skull, these muscles allow us to express ourselves.
Alongside Acupuncture treatments I offer Natural Facelift Massage. It’s great for those that are needle shy and serves as a perfect complement to cosmetic acupuncture, targeting every muscle in the face. I was very fortunate to train with queen of skin Sophie Anne Perry and I love this practice for its potential to enhance the skin’s natural processes as well as deeply relaxing the muscles and the nervous system.
My acupuncture roots began in Traditional Five Element Acupuncture under Michael Baker & Paul Adkins at the International College of Acupuncture. Five Element theory is rooted in Daoist philosophy and living in tune with the laws of nature, complementing my interest in herbal medicine, holistic therapies and alternatives to Western medicine. I firmly believe in the mind/ body connection and I love five element acupuncture for its intention to realign and nourish on all three levels of the mind, body and spirit. It is a truly holistic approach which I consider to be the best path to wellbeing.

Why “Kalon”
Kalon is an ancient greek word for beauty. It is the idea of beauty that is much more than skin deep. I grew up close to the Welsh border and have Welsh family, so whilst looking for a name that was closer to my roots I discovered that in Welsh “Calon” means heart, not so much anatomically, but the inner core or spirit. The magic of acupuncture for me is not only in promoting a more youthful complexion, a calmer mind, or relief from pain, but it can bring you back to yourself in a way that I’ve not experienced with any other medicine or complementary therapy. My offerings at Kalon seek to nurture a beauty & wellbeing that is created from, and centred, within.
